Hello , I am a 47 year old Sport and Outdoor Education teacher, a husband and father of two amazing children who continue to teach me about myself!

I believe we all have the potential to love our lives and that with a positive school experience we can start life with a wide range of tools to create positivity for ourselves and others.

I have seen over many years the huge impact that Nature has on our well-being , and sadly the loss of interaction with Nature for many. I believe strongly that young people should have a close connection to Nature to ensure their life-long well being.

 

Trained in the UK as a PE teacher, I have been Head of Department in four schools (students aged 8-21) and been  Sporting Director at NZ's top Rugby school. I am a trained Forest School leader, hold many sporting and first aid qualifications and am professionally trained to deliver EQi 2.0  Emotional Intelligence courses. I have managed school ski hotels in the French Alps and coached football and specialised education schemes for Arsenal Football club, been President of Disabled Surfers Association in NZ and run my own woodland camps business in Sweden, as well as setting up environmental help groups and  most importantly............. I am a Father :-)

It is my dream to create a learning environment where students are excited to turn up to school each day, to be proud of their learning, to share this joy with their peers and adults around them. Where they are encouraged to make mistakes and to recognise that they own their emotions, and that to express them is a sign of bravery. I believe that with passionate, creative and empathetic staff we can create a school where young people learn to love life, themselves and the world around them. And that in doing this, they will  gain academic success.
